Welcome to the home page of the PDCS Walking Challenge pilot.

The Challenge is now complete - Tazzie Devils win with 8443303 steps!
Our Walk4Health virtual journey began at Land’s End on 21st May and we walked a virtual route to John O’Groats, or as near as we could make it by the time the Challenge ended on 2nd September.
The Snippets page (on the menu above) showed the latest news, the amount raised for charity, updates and tips.
The Challenge was to try and increase daily step counts. If you’re in a sedentary occupation (most of us are) you’re probably only doing about 3,000 steps a day or less. The aim was to increase your step average over the period. Ideally we should all be doing about 10,000 steps a day
Our CE kindly agreed to present a prize to the team with the most steps at the end of the Challenge.
We also asked you to send in your photographs, connected with the challenge. This could be a picture of you walking, a picture of your team or some of the things you saw while you were out. (That’s while you were out walking, not down at the disco). The WebMaster has kindly donated a bottle of champagne for picture that, in his opinion was the best submitted (SEE ANNOUNCEMENT ON SNIPPETS PAGE!!). Viv will shortly be presenting the prize .
All our challengers entry fees will go to charity. The charity that got the most votes was Macmillan Cancer Support.
All we asked you to do was wear your pedometer at all times, except when in water – most of them aren’t waterproof so swimming didn’t count. Great exercise though it is.
Thanks for taking part - keep on walking! |
